See why Darby's story matters.
William O. Darby
William O. Darby became one of the defining leaders in the history of the United States Army Rangers. During World War II, he was selected to organize and lead America's first Ranger Battalion, developing an elite force for demanding commando-style operations.
Darby later trained additional Ranger battalions, and the men of the 1st, 3rd, and 4th became widely known as "Darby's Rangers." Their courage, initiative, and leadership helped establish a Ranger tradition that continues today.
Darby was killed in action in Italy on April 30, 1945, at only 34 years old. He was subsequently promoted posthumously to brigadier general.
FORGED IN WAR. REMEMBERED IN HISTORY.
William O. Darby helped shape the American Rangers, but behind the uniform and battlefield accomplishments was a man driven by purpose, tested by war, and remembered for what he built. This film will bring that story to life.
THE MAN
Before there was a legend, there was a calling.
Every extraordinary life begins somewhere. We'll follow Darby's journey from his early years to the battlefields of World War II, uncovering the experiences, convictions, and sense of purpose that set him on an uncommon path.
THE MOMENT
War doesn't create character. It reveals it.
Under the pressure of combat, Darby's leadership was tested. His decisions, determination, and willingness to lead from the front helped forge the Rangers who followed him-and the standard by which they would be measured.
THE LEGACY
Some lives continue to speak long after they are gone.
Darby's life was cut short, but his influence was not. The Rangers he helped build carried his example forward, creating an enduring tradition of courage, discipline, and service.
His story deserves more than a footnote in history. It deserves a film.
